Year 11 students at King’s Leadership Academy Liverpool are benefitting from a valuable partnership with The Girls’ Network, an organisation which connects girls with professional role models in order to develop their skills and boost their confidence.
The students taking part in the scheme were invited to complete a careers questionnaire, outlining their aspirations, before attending a matching event and being connected with the mentor best placed to help them achieve their future goals.
The students will meet with their mentor 12 times in total throughout the academic year, receiving tailored guidance and developing their skillsets. The girls arrange these meetings themselves, which encourages independence and organisational skills.
The students involved with The Girls’ Network have provided excellent feedback, and Senior Safeguarding Lead Steven Panter, who arranged the partnership, is delighted to see its success: “It’s great to see the girls engaging and getting out of their comfort zone.”
The Girls’ Network recently presented to the Great Schools Trust and are hoping to roll out the mentorship scheme across the other academies, to allow more students to benefit from their professional experience and valuable guidance.
