Inspirational teacher, Ana Sanchez from King’s Leadership Academy Liverpool headed to London in November to attend the ‘Oscars’ of the teaching profession. The annual Pearson National Teaching Awards UK Ceremony honours and celebrates the outstanding achievements of educators from across the UK
The glittering awards ceremony, which was hosted by TV presenter and radio broadcaster Gaby Roslin at The Brewery, brought together teachers, lecturers, support staff, institutions and special guests. The evening showcased the incredible work of all who work in education, going above and beyond what is required to make young people’s educational experiences not only valuable but unforgettable.
Principal, Scott Cordon said “Our entire school community is so excited to be sharing this experience with our very own Miss Sánchez. The silver award is fully deserved”. As a silver award winner, Ana has been invited to become a Teaching Awards ambassador, which will see her invited to speak at education events and share best practice with others in their local communities, and even nationally.
Of her experience, Ana said “I am deeply humbled and grateful to have been awarded the silver award for Secondary Teacher of the Year. This recognition is a testament to the incredible support and inspiration I have received from my colleagues at King’s Leadership Academy since I joined in September 2023.
Since the beginning of my career, I have had the privilege of working alongside fantastic teachers from whom I have learned so much. I also feel very grateful to the school community, including parents and students. They make the job worthwhile and so enjoyable."
Mary Palmer, CEO of the Teaching Awards Trust shared her thoughts on the ceremony: “Every educator deserves acknowledgement for the exceptional impact they have in both their classrooms and the wider community, every day. The awards evening is a chance to take a moment to reflect on the incredible work happening in early years, schools and colleges across the UK, and celebrate all who make it happen."
